Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) covers all children through the age of 19, and senior citizens 65 and older. For those 20-64, examinations are covered for certain medical conditions, including cataracts, diabetes, glaucoma, macular degeneration, other retinal diseases, corneal disease, or if a referral from a family doctor or nurse practitioner is given. Some insurance plans provide coverage for eye examinations.
